Reunion Island Tourism (IRT) participated in the 5th edition of Indaba 2014, the trade fair for the travel and tourism industry. The event was held in South Africa, Durban, from May 10 to 12.

At the Indaba lounge, Reunion Island was represented by Air Austral and three DMCs, including Counter Coral Connections and Papangue Tours, as well as the IRT who promoted the destination to the South African market and international market. Last year’s event attracted nearly 2,900 buyers and 9,276 participants, rising to become one of the top 3 of the most visited in field events.

The destination meeting stand was visited among others by Ms. Elisabeth Barbier, Ambassador of France in the South, who supported the destination at the all-day Africa meeting on May 10. Reunion Island professionals were also able to meet with Mr. Marthinus van Schalkwyk, Minister of Tourism of South Africa, as well as ministers from the various Vanilla Islands and several African countries.

A press conference was organized at the Reunion Island stand, where 35 journalists and influential bloggers in the middle of the trip attended the launch of the digital campaign #GoToReunion on social networks IRT managed by Mariette du Toit-Helmbold, Director of the destination agency. In this process of communication, the IRT will host a “fam trip” for bloggers in June.
