Seychelles Tourism Minister: Panelist for East Africa Tourism Development Forum

Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister of Tourism and Culture, will be a panelist in the East Africa Tourism Development forum to be held in Kenya, from August 20-22, 2015.

Minister St.Ange who was in Ghana for the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) meeting on Brand Africa said that he will be stopping in Kenya on his way back home and participating in the East Africa Tourism Development forum that is being organized jointly by the UNWTO and the Ministry of East African Affairs, Commerce and Tourism and Kenya.

The forum is set to look deeply at ways and means to accelerate the unlocking of the greater potential of the East Africa sub-region. Mr. Taleb Rifai, the Secretary General of the UNWTO, is expected to personally lead tourism leaders from East Africa and the Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands in this forum that aims to unite the region’s tourism leaders to engage in interactive dialogue around the important theme of “Connecting Opportunity.” The Seychelles Minister and his Regional Colleagues are also expected to sit in a closed-door Ministerial Discussion Session that will be chaired by Mr. Rifai of the UNWTO.

“This forum in Kenya is aimed at advancing tourism growth in the East Africa region, and to achieve this we all need to play our part as serious partners in the industry that is today recognized as important for Africa. Seychelles is one destination that depends on tourism for its economic stability, this pushes myself and the team at the Ministry of Tourism and Culture to leave no stones unturned. Our work is on the ground locally in Seychelles, as it is globally, and so far our actions plans are working for our islands,” said Minister St.Ange as he left Ghana for Kenya.
