Youth travel group launches second global survey

The World Youth Student and Educational (WYSE) Travel Confederation is calling for industry professionals to take part in the second volume of its Global Youth and Student Travel Industry Survey.

With a specific focus on visa policies and marketing in the international youth and student travel industry, professionals from a wide range of industry sectors – including study and work abroad, language travel, higher education, cultural exchange, work experience, volunteer travel, adventure travel and youth travel accommodation – are invited to contribute.

The survey includes questions such as:

• How do visas influence the decision making process of students?

• Which areas of visa processing show potential for improvement?

• What are the most widely-used marketing techniques in each of the sectors?

• What are the average marketing costs?

• What is the average visa processing time?

• How can communication with potential customers be done more effectively?

After the gathering and analysis of the data, the results will be published as easy-to-digest reports that will be shared with WYSE Travel Confederation members, academics and government decision-makers, and available for download by the industry as a whole.

“This is a very exciting time for the youth and student travel industry as it continues to grow and evolve at a rapid rate,” explains Laura Daly, Deputy Director at WYSE Travel Confederation. “The findings of this survey will enable us to form an up-to-the-minute snapshot of international trends within the global youth travel market and help organizations to benchmark themselves within the industry.

“The study will also provide a platform for lobbying to improve the global visa situation – one of the most critical factors for organizations and youth travelers moving internationally.”

Open until Thursday, July 31, 2014, the survey takes only 15 minutes to complete. All contributors will receive an executive summary of the results and will be eligible to apply for a 10% WYSE Travel Confederation membership discount.

The complete results will be presented at WYSTC in Dublin in September 2014.

The survey is administered by StudentMarketing, WYSE Travel Confederation’s research partner, adhering to standards of international research (ESOMAR) and travel (UNWTO).
